BEFORE YOUR VISIT
What to expect at your first visit
Whether we feel you could benefit from traditional braces, Invisalign, or any of our other treatment options, our treatment coordinators will take extra time during your treatment consultation to explain all aspects of treatment in detail and answer any questions or concerns you may have.
We believe that the more patients and parents are informed, the better the results will be. We are excited to help you achieve your healthiest and best smile!
- Be supportive of our terminology and please try not to share any negative experiences that you have had at the dentist in front of your child at their appointment. While it may appear they are not listening, children understand more than we realize, and this could begin to scare them.
- If you are in the room with us, please be a silent observer:
- This allows us to maintain communication with your child.
- 3-way communication is ineffective for your child. It can be confusing for them and cause them to become anxious during their appointment.
- In the occasion the patient is not cooperating, we may ask the parent to step out of the room – just into the hallway, while we try to get the patient back on track. Many children will try to control the situation when their parent is in the room but start to cooperate again when the parent steps out. We will continue to always support your child and work with them throughout their appointment.
These are very important ways that you can actively help in the success of your child’s visit. We are confident that all will go well and hope that these guidelines will help prepare you with confidence for the upcoming appointment.
Sincerely,
The Dinosaur Orthodontics Team
